Surreal and Serene!!!!

We had a smooth and comfortable 2 hr flight from Barcelona to Dubrovnik, this morning! It was great meeting another Saskatchewan couple from Regina, as we were boarding! They have been travelling about Europe, finishing their 6 week holiday, in Croatia!

As the plane prepared for and drew in for landing, at Dubrovnik airport, we were captivated by the sculpted/terraced mountains that surrounded a picturesque landscape of terracotted roofs dotted along a gentle sea shore!! It was clearly sooooo beautiful, even before we landed!!!!

We had arranged to have our apartment host pick us up from the airport. The drive along the small coastal highway was awe-provoking! I cannot even begin to describe it's magnificent beauty! It took my breath away!!
Then we arrived at our sea side home, which will be ours for the next 3 weeks!! We rented it, through Trip Advisor and from its description, we were optimistic that it would be quite nice. It has actually blown us out of the water!!! It is AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!

Our 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment is right at sea level on Zaton Bay, which is about a 10 minute drive to the 'Old Town' of Dubrovnik!! It is an incredibly beautiful....serene.....safe.......amazing place!!! Our front door opens to a covered deck which is right at sea level! The Bay is CALM and the water is pristine clear, letting us see schools of fish swimming by!!

Our bedroom window looks out, onto the water and we are looking forward to falling asleep, listening to the gentle lapping of the water against the deck and boats, that are moored along the seaside. (Actually, as  I write this post, Lawrence is sleeping on a lounge chair, right by the water.....it is 10:00 PM and it is about 21 degrees)

Here are pictures of the inside of our place:

And......here is the outside!!!!

Here is the view through our front door....

And, from our bedroom.....

We quickly unpacked and enjoyed 'tea by the sea' on our deck. While sitting there, it began to gently rain, but because of the covered deck, we were able to sit out and enjoy the scenery, which included fish jumping!

We, then, went exploring , on foot.....finding the little grocery store and picking up a few staples for our breakfasts and lunches. The walk along the sea shore is peaceful and picturesque...

We decided to walk to one of the 3 local restaurants for supper, which just happens to be sea side, as well!!  Here is some of what we saw on our walk......

Our meal of Vegetable soup, Dalmatian chops (a local type of pork), with sautéed spinach over potatoes, Greek salad and warm buns was delicious!!!

We were directly across the Bay from our place and it felt sooooo great, seeing the deck lights twinkling back at us, reminding us that is experience is REAL!!!!
Upon our return, we have been having tea on the deck......and, as I said, Lawrence has been snoozing down by the water and I have been savouring the scent of the sea....the night sights of lights across the bay, reflecting their warm glow.....sounds of waves lapping, fish jumping and boats bobbing! It truly is a paradise and it feels amazingly surreal!! Pinch me!!!!! :)
