Tarifico Tavira!!!

We arrived in Tavira yesterday (Sept. 18th) in the early afternoon, to a clear blue sky and a temperature of 29 degrees!!! Hot and beautiful!! Our train trip, from Lisboa, was comfortable and enjoyable. For Lawrence and I, this was a familiar trek, so we were pleased that the rest of the crew found it an enjoyable trip as well!!

I CANNOT adequately describe how full and happy and excited I felt, arriving in Tavira......it is SUCH a beautiful place! I felt like crying with joy!!

After an extensive wait, for our host to pick us up, we made our way to our rented apartment. What a beautiful place.....we were soooooo happy and excited to see how great it was! (We booked it, back in April, through VRBO....and it is always a gamble, when you book online!!) It is a large 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom place over 2 floors, with a front door patio and a large outdoor terrace, off the kitchen!! The ceramic wall tiling, throughout the apartment, is exquisite!! We won the lottery with this place in all ways, including location!

After unpacking and cracking open a celebratory bottle of vinho tinto, we toasted the fact that we were now 'in the moment' of one item on Brian & Delilah's bucket list (which was the inspiration for this trip)!!!! From there, we went to one of Tavira's most beautiful outdoor lounges....The Tavira Lounge....where we sipped delicious Sangria and crunched some salty snacks!! It was sooo fun to revisit one of Lawrence and my favourite places, in Tavira, with our great friends. When we were here 3 years ago, the two of us would sit in these amazing spots, watch and listen to other groups of friends enjoying their time together, with vivacious laughter and popping conversation and wish we could be sharing these amazing experiences with others we love!!  Now, we are living it!!

In the evening we made reservations at a local Fado restaurant, where we took in a Fado performance,  while enjoying a very delicious meal and an AMAZING selection of desserts!

From there, we strolled the picturesque streets of Tavira at night and enjoyed some live music at street cafes!! It was a very, very great day!!!

I will do another post, capturing today's adventures....(hopefully my blog site will not freeze and prevent this post from being published)
